The reason not to buy links

There are a few important factors that make an SEO campaign a true success and one of the most vita ingredients is links. Whatever way you look at it you will always need links to rank a website, you will also need other important elements however links are the most powerful, and I know this from experience. SEO is a well-balanced science, with a combination of great on page content, accessibility and navigation and off page SEO. Off page SEO is in short links, from articles, one way links from web partners, and blogs and social media at the end of the day all of page SEO are based on links.

Why are links so important?

Links are a vote from one website to another, although reciprocal links are still a good foundation a one way link is the most powerful and the same time by far the most difficult to create. Search engines look at these links for quality and relevance, kind of like a reference from a previous employer, search engines want to know if your site is worthy of being ranked for the keyword you are aiming for.
Links are difficult to build as no one really wants to just link to your site, so to generate links your site has to attract attention from genuine content, content that is natural, informative and beneficial to the visitor. There are many ways to create links including directory submissions, articles creation, blogs and more but the most powerful links are near impossible to create and for good reason.

Nowhere to hide, they will find out

So many people get tempted with buying links, the thing is they really don’t know how dangerous this can be and will without doubt pay the price in time. Search engines of today are so advanced they can crawl your website and every website the links to you in a milliseconds, the crawlers will then relay the information back to the algorithm to be indexed. The data they collect will see if the sites linking to you have forced PageRank and more, this will normally result in a warning requesting that the links be removed. Google for example have a wide range of algorithm updates that crawl a sites profile for both on and off page data, the most recent devastating bows have come from the Panda update and the Penguin update. The Panda and Penguin update side by side penalized or even removed many sites by filtering out unethical SEO practices.

Build links like bricks, slow and strong

If you truly want to succeed online your links must be relevant and stable so when the search engines view your website again they will see a steady increase of links. Another reason not to by links is that they only last for a sort while, in most cases black hat link builders will sell links on a domain and never renew the domain as they know at some point within the domain period the site will get penalized and stripped of PageRank thus not being a selling point. When the search engines revisited your profile, if they see a trend of missing links this will flag up a warning which can result in bad news.

No shortcuts to success

Search engine companies now have specific spam divisions now in place, Google is a perfect example as they have a dedicated team of individuals that are trained and armed with software to sieve out the ‘highly spammed’ sites, if you think you can beat a team of computer scientist with software you really should think again. This article will give you a selection of keyboard shortcuts that will enhance your productivity when using a PC.

You can find a list of keyboard shortcuts from the Microsoft website; let’s start with the most useful of shortcuts.

• ALT+TAB: Switch between open programs; this is a shortcut I use most to flick from browser to program, you can jump to one browser to another without touching the mouse and is useful when checking emails to then return back to your work.
• CTRL+C: Copy: a quick and easy way to select text, a good way to copy text from word and to paste in to Notepad, perfect for removing poor code like ‘MsoNormal’ which is a common problem when building a web page.
• CTRL+X: Cut: works the same as above but cuts instead of copy
• CTRL+V: Paste: works in sync with the above, these keyboard shortcuts work together perfectly allowing you to copy, cut and paste items in seconds again without touching the mouse.
• CTRL+Z: Undo: another extremely useful shortcut as if you have deleted text or content from a document you can retrieve easily by using the CTRL+Z: Undo shortcut.
• CTRL+N: this will launch a new browser when using Google Chrome
• CTRL+Shift+N: this launched a new browser when using Google Chrome incognito allowing you to make fresh searches in private, the perfect way for checking ranks as accurate as possible with cookie history.

What is allintitle?

In this article we will explain what an allintitle: is and the benefits of using this search command.

When using Google to search for a product or services it will immediately deliver you hundreds if not thousands of results depending on the key phrase. The only problem is that the search can generate open results and not be as a niche as you would like, using the ‘allintitle:’ search command filters out the searches and only delivers results with the fixed key phrase in the title tag.

The allintitle: search will only give you results containing the absolute keyword in the title tag which look like this in code; Search Engine Optimisation

Here we will demonstrate an example, if you open a browser and visit www.google.com then search the key phrase ‘search engine optimisation’ you will be presented with a list of results, in my case I have 10,100,000. Now search with this command first in the search box ‘allintitle:’, again in my case I have been presented with 209,000 results. These results have filtered out a huge amount of results leaving me with only niche searches.

Why is the allintitle: a benefit?

Filtering the results out to this extreme separates ‘unrelated’ sites leaving you with website using the keyword in the title tag. Websites using this fixed keyword in the title tag means that the site or web page has information and content relating specifically to that keyword term. In my search I was left with sites only using the keyword ‘search engine optimisation’ fixed in the title tag, without this I would have been given results with ‘search engine optimisation’ ‘search’ ‘engine’ and ‘optimisation’ in the title tag used loosely. As the results go, the deeper the page results go you will find lesser relevant sites contain the key phrases including companies that are content relating to ‘engine’ and without any relevance to ‘search engine optimisation’.

Use the allintitle: when building an SEO campaign

Using the allintitle: search can save time and increase to quality of your search thus giving you the most accurate search. This is useful for generating searches but much more important for researching an SEO campaign, in just a few seconds you can see what completion you face. This one search command can truly make an SEO campaign efficient and successful.

The importance of SEO in business

Search Engine Optimisation has over the years become one of the most powerful sources of advertising a product or service. In the early days of the internet SEO was non-existent as everyone relied on newspaper advertising and really only used a website to give their audience more information. It was never thought websites would be used this way until the web started to grow, along with the competition.

Search Engines provide a unique way of finding a service

Search engines provided an easy way to find a local company for example a plumber, they would search the company name, however as completion started to grow people were then using keyword searches containing the local area and not the company name, and this is where SEO was born.

For example if you were looking for a plumber in a rural area, the completion would be low and in some cases none, however if you were to search a keyword term such as ‘plumber London’ or ‘plumber New York’ the completion today is vast. I just carried out a search ‘plumber London’ and found that here are 26,800 website using ‘plumber London’ within their title tag, the way to do this is carry out an all in title search. You can carry out an all in title search by typing the following command in to Google followed by your keyword; ‘allintitle:’ the allintitle search is a good way of quickly checking your completion to see what you are up against. The results are displayed just below the search box and will say something like this; About 26,800 results (0.24 seconds).

Keyword competiveness and localised

The above searching is all about a localised keyword and this means a keyword that has a secondary term to localise the key please thus reducing the completion of the search and increasing the niche. If you were to use the same keyword term without the localised key phrase, for example ‘plumber’ you will see the completion for that keyword is a lot more, in fact for my search it generated 2,440,000 results. The whole idea of a successful SEO campaign is to make is as efficient as possible and the idea here would be to concentrate on the areas you covered and for many plumbing companies aiming for a global search will be a pointless exercise if you cannot convert a lead in to business.
In the world of online shopping this is completely different; ecommerce has over the years grown in to an everyday norm, from purchasing gifts to buying your weekly food shopping. When stores started to sell products online, many thought it was crazy and did not trust or want to use this method of purchasing items.

Global competition keywords for ecommerce

A great example I read a little while back is about a book store wanting to sell books online, the person that first thought of this understood the importance of the web and many just laughed and said ‘why would anyone want to buy a book online when you can go to a book store’. Today the majority of books are sold online and resold online, from book stores to auction sites, buying a book online is now common place. When this first discovery was made the internet was still in baby steps and is very much so today, with the rising costs of running your own shop/store, with rent, rates, electric and many more overheads it seems that having well placed website online is the most sensible way of any new business today.
With the global financial problems and an on-going recession, having your own online store is not only the most powerful way of advertising a product or service but the safest one, a real investment in to the future of your business or income and with that in mind the importance of SEO is too a main component of your businesses success.

Google Panda Algorithm update

We all know that Google panda is different from other crawlers. The new Google bots have succeeded in bringing quality information to the top. Google panda is undergoing periodic upgrades to enhance its ability and intelligence. This article highlights the way Google panda analyses the contents of a website to bring it to the top of a search result page.

The function of Google Panda is based on the following factors;

• Query keywords
• Keyword related words
• Primary analysis
• Whole site analysis
• Publishing

Query keywords

When a query keyword is typed in Google search box, first the auto fill facility suggests keywords to us. Interestingly, around 80% of the visitors relays on these suggestions. They are the popular keywords, which were being inserted in the Google search box around the globe. Your primary target is to understand those keywords than relying on any other software. It is recommended to focus your articles on those keywords. After receiving a query, Google panda crawls through the data that contain the similar words to the query keyword.

Primary analysis

The next step can be defined as primary search analysis as the crawlers search for invisible keywords in the website that are hiding under html tags. They act as the road signals for crawlers mentioning that the searching keywords are here. It is revealed that the sites having Meta data have a high possibility to reach the top results page comparing to others. Crawlers then assess the individual page for the relevance of the keyword and the content by analyzing the LSA’s (Keyword related words).

Keyword related words

After confirming, the keywords and analyzing the keyword density of the individual page, the next task is to search for the connecting words and words related to the keywords (LSA). Though there are not any limitations for LSA, it is important to connect it well and not to mention same LSA more than 2 times in 100 words. The most intelligent way to find LSA keywords is to identify the auto fill suggestions of Google while typing the keywords.

You can include unlimited number of LSA’s and each LSA should not repeat more than three times in a content of 300 to 500 words.
Whole site analysis

The next step of Google Panda is to search the whole website wherever they are permitted to crawl. If your contents of other pages are of low quality, then Google Panda may omit it from the results page. If you feel, a page is of low quality you can prevent search engine crawls by inserting NOINDEXING /NOCRAWL Meta tags in your WebPages.

Publishing

Each search query is a test in which a site gets a pass mark if it comes at the top ten results of a search engine result page. Each search algorithms are different in its function. Google Panda functions in an interesting way. Even if a website passes the effective crawling test, it may not show up in the top ten results. According to Google Panda, the final ranking may depend upon the following factors;

• Page loading time
• More gadgets or advertisement blocks you have, the more time it takes to load the site
• Server uptime (unfortunately if your server is frequently down, then there is no chance in the near future you can top the search results)

The history of Yahoo!

Yahoo was started by Jerry Yang and David Filo in 1994 who at that time were both electrical engineering students pursuing their PhD in Stanford University. At the beginning it was known as “Jerry’s Guide to the World Wide Web”, which was a website the two had created with all the links to their best and favorite sites. The idea was to make it easy for them to quickly access their favorite websites however with time the sites became so many that they had to group them in categories and subcategories to allow easy navigation. Their website soon gained popularity among other university students who started preferring to use it to get to the sites they were looking for. This became the foundation that leads to the birth of Yahoo.

Best Online Directory

Yahoo now is often referred as the “Online Yellow Pages” due to its ability to easily and effectually guide you to the site you are searching for. This is one of the reasons why it is so far among the most popular sites in the US reportedly with over half a billion people visiting Yahoo each and every month. Yahoo database is normally arranged in hierarchical order which is meant to enable one to find a given site with ease. However, other common internet services that Yahoo offers include getting news, e-mail, shopping options and music.

Yahoo Search Engine

In 2004, Yahoo was able to come up with a technology of supporting their own search engine after about 4 years of depending on Google. Now what is their position in the search engine ‘battle’? But on a lighter note the two agree that they chose the name because they found it to be rather rude and unsophisticated but catchy as well. Generally Yahoo has played a very essential role in popularizing other internet websites substantially.
